CV:
Prof Dag is a Senior Researcher at the Department of Fruit Tree Sciences, Institute of Plant Sciences of the Agricultural Research Organization. He obtained his M.Sc. degree from Tel Aviv University and his PhD degree from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot. His main research interest is pomology under semi-arid conditions and especially olive biology and cultivation with special attention to tree-soil-water relationships. He is the Scientific Director of R&D South (Mop Darom). His research activity has resulted in 150 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 130 papers in local journals. He was the convener of the Agritec, Desert Agriculture Conference (2018), 9th ISHS International Symposium on Mineral Nutrition of Fruit Crops (2021), and the Achieving Sustainable Agriculture in Arid Regions Conference (2021).

Presentation title:
Precision fertilization; A key factor in olive productivity and oil quality

Presentation abstract:
Nutrients are essential for the growth and development of olive trees and for achieving commercially viable yields. However, excessive nitrogen fertilization can negatively affect both oil production and oil quality. On the other hand, phosphorus plays a significant role in olive productivity, while calcium is closely associated with oil quality. This presentation summarizes updated knowledge on proper nutrient management strategies aimed at maximizing olive oil yield and quality.
