Panos Panagos is a senior scientist at the Joint Research Centre (European Commission) with over 25 years of experience in environmental modeling and EU policy. He leads the EU Soil Observatory (EUSO) and supports policies including the Soil Monitoring Law, the EU Soil Strategy 2030, the Carbon Removals Certification, CAP, and the Zero Pollution Action Plan. He also provides scientific support for the Horizon Europe Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” and leads innovative soil health assessments on erosion, organic carbon, nutrients, and diffuse pollution. He has more than 260 publications and is a Web of Science highly influential scientist (2019–2025).
