Kostas Chartzoulakis

Senior researcher, former Director of the Institute of Olive and Subtropical Plants
He worked from 1980 to 2005 as researcher in crop irrigation issues at the Institute of Olive and Subtropical Plants and from 2006-2013 as its director. He has published 65 original research papers in international SCI journals with over 4900 references and over 160 papers in national and international conference proceedings. He has organized 3 world conferences in Chania, he has participated in 32 competitive EU programs. and the International Olive Council (IOC) and is an invited speaker at many national and international conferences and seminars. He is co-editor of the book ‘Following Olive Footprints’ in English and Greek and author of the books ‘The irrigation of horticultural crops’ and ‘The wild plants of Kissamos’. He was a consultant on irrigation and olive growing in China, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt and Jordan and expert of the International Olive Council. It has been awarded by ISHS, GSHS, EGME and ECOCITY. He is in the top 2% of the most influential scientists in the world, according to the study by Baas J, Boyack K, Ioannidis JPA., (2021) of Stanford University.
