Subject: Recovering biodiversity in the olive groves to improve profitability: the model “Olivares Vivos”.
Carlos Ruiz is a conservationist with almost 20 years of experience. He began his career working with endangered species, mainly vultures and other birds of prey. To address the main conservation problems, he began to work together with the stakeholders involved in its management:
shepherds, hunters, farmers, etc., developing different strategies to work towards common goals. Since 2015 he has been working on the Olivares Vivos project, which aims to conserve and recover biodiversity in olive groves, while offering a profitable way of using biodiversity for farmers.
