Lesvos Public Library Director

Grigora Maria is a Librarian and the director of Public Central Library of Mytilene. She graduated from Ionian University with a degree in Library and Archives Science. She also, holds an MSc in Cultural Informatics and Communication. She has and extensive experience in digitization and documentation printed and manuscript materials, based on international standards and cataloguing rules. Her auctorial work consists of 6 publications, books and diaries of Public Central Library of Mytilene, on subjects related to history and culture of Lesvos Island, as well as articles in the local press on related topics. She is a frequent participant of conferences and seminars. Her research interests focus on ICΤ (Information and Communication Technologies) in Libraries, the design of interactive educational activities and projects especially for children through collaboration with schools of Lesvos. Moreover, she’ s interested in promoting local history and culture thus creating promotional material for that purpose, based on the Library’s most rich collections.
